Scots Pine, Glen Feshie, Cairngorms

You may as well go stand upon the beach

And bid the main flood bate his usual height

You may as well question with the wolf

Why he hath made the ewe bleat for the lamb;

You may as well forbid the mountain pines

To wag their high tops and make no noise

When they are fretten with the gusts of heaven.

ANTONIO: Merchant of Venice, Act 4, Scene 1

PINE

Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) is one of Britain’s 3 native conifers: Pine, Juniper and Yew. Scots Pines can live up to 700 years. The Caledonia Forest used to cover vast parts of Scotland and you can visit the remaining areas of this majestic habitat in and around the Cairngorms of Scotland. Caledonian Forest is also home to a wide variety of species including rare and threatened plant and bird species such as Twinflower (Linnaea borealis), Capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) and the Scottish Crossbill (Loxia scotica).
